Best Seasons for Mardi Himal Trekking:

March to May and September to November months of the year, March to May when most of day is clear for views and pleasant walks with moderate temperatures, longer sunlight hours when wild flowers are in bloom, especially rhododendron of various species from trees to bush of different colors (national flower of Nepal the rhododendron).

March to May where late afternoon can get cloudy with chances of rain and snow in higher altitude sometimes.

September to November around autumn / fall best times with clear blue sky and sunny days (for short while from morning to mid day) can be cold and freezing during morning and night times above 1,800 m high.

Sunlight is short during autumn and winter seasons but most of the morning till late afternoon are clear for views and pleasant walks with chances of snow around higher areas above 1,800 m.

People and Culture:

Low warm farm areas of Nepal Mid West are of mixed ethnic tribes of people with mostly Gurung, Magar with some Tamang including Hindu Brahmin, Chettries and Dalits with various cultures and custom with same farm traditional life of both Hindu and Buddhism religion.

Higher mid hill around Annapurna region where villages populated by Gurung ethnic tribe of Annapurna and Western part of Nepal, follows Buddhism religion along with their ancestral heritage rites, worshipping nature and mountain spirits.

Gurung people are traditional farmers and cattle herders where most men folk are famous as courageous and brave Gorkha soldiers in British, Indian Army and as well in Singapore police infantry.

Details Itinerary

Day 01Reach Kathmandu via various countries and airlines.

On arrival at Nepal international airport in Kathmandu, where Professional Trekking Guide staff receives with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu.

On checking your rooms getting refreshed then join in at hotel foyer / lobby meeting with other members of the trek, where our guide will brief you with information regarding Mardi Himal Trekking.

Evening group welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese environment restaurant with native folk culture programs along with the dinner.

Day 02A day in Kathmandu preparation for trek with options for tour.

A free day in Kathmandu you can enjoy at leisure as well preparation for the trek, on this day interested people can join in our exciting guided sightseeing tour for half or full day tour at places of great interest around World Heritage Sites.

Day 03Drive / fly to Pokhara 860 m (220 k.m.)-06 hrs (30 mins by air).

Morning either in charted bus, or in car as well in tourist coach (depending upon the size of a group), where overland journey takes you on main busy Nepal highway to reach country Mid-West at beautiful Pokhara.

Pokhara an amazing city located on the laps of towering Annapurna Mountain range with famous Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’ where reflection of the peaks touches its serene Phewa Lake.

At Pokhara transfer to your respective hotels by the lake side with time wander 8on the street around the lake lined with shops and stores with many good hotels and restaurants.

Day 04Drive to Kande 1,700 m and trek to Deurali 2,100 m via Australian Camp or Thulo Kharka 2,050 m - 05 hrs.

Adventure begins with short exciting drive beyond Pokhara valley to reach at Kande a small farm village, where walk starts following uphill trail into cool shade of forest for few hours.

Then climb past farm villages to reach at scenic place called Australian Camp, the local name as Thulo Kharka means large cattle grazing field, offers grand views of Annapurna and Mardi Himal.

From here descend with short climb to Potana village where walk leads uphill within forest to reach on top of a ridge at Deurali, a nice cool spot with grand views of mountain range and beautiful landscapes, overnight in a small nice lodge at Deurali with excellent panorama of surrounding hills and mountains.

Day 05Trek to Jungle Camp 2,520m - 06 hrs.

Morning views of Annapurna range start with slow climb into forestas our route diverts from main trail after Deurali heading into hidden pockets of Annapurna Himalaya to reach a small place at Forest or Jungle Camp, also known Kokar located in the middle of serene forest surroundings.

Day 06Trek to High Camp 3,600 m / 11,811ft -05 hrs.

From Jungle or Kokar camp walk today takes longer hours with climbwithin dense wood of tall rhododendron-hemlocks-oaks-magnolia and pine tree.

As walk slowly follows hidden path then reaching a small place within forest clearing at Low Camp after a refreshing stop walk continues heading closer towards mountains where tree lines drop for short alpine bushes and shrubs with dwarf rhododendron, junipers and Burberry with close views of towering Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’ with Mardi Himal at close distance.

Slowly walk ends at High Camp for overnight, a place with few simple good lodges for trekkers and adventurer, afternoon at leisure to enjoy marvelous views of grand landscapes and snow-capped mountains.

Day 07At High Camp for hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp 4,500m /14,763 ft.

With overnight stops at High Camp, morning after breakfast side trip and hike to Mardi base camp, walks follows a faint trail on high ridge of Mardi Himal facing grand panorama of Annapurna Himalaya, as walk reach at the bottom of Mardi Himal.

Mardi base camp located just beneath Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’, here enjoy great moments with glorious views on highest spot of the adventure at 4,4500 meters, then retrace afternoon walk back to High Camp for last overnight around high Mardi Himal area.

Day 08Trek to Low / Jungle Camp - 05 hrs.

On leaving high hills of Mardi Himal return walk on the same serene route to reach back into dense forested area at Low or Jungle camp for last overnight on higher areas of Annapurna and Mardi Himal.

Day 09Trek to Siding 1,700 m - 05 hrs.

From Low Jungle Camp final walk of the adventure reaches you on downhill trails to reach warm low area around farm areas at Sidang village, after a last moment on high hills of Annapurna and Mardi Himal.

Walk follows to long descend within dense forested area, and then trek finally ends at Sidang village located on a road head that takes you to Pokhara.

Day 10Drive back to Pokhara - 02 hrs.

Morning adventure completes taking few hour drive to Pokhara after a most enjoyable and scenic time on high hills at Mardi Himal Base Camp or Other Sanctuary. At Pokhara free morning and afternoon for leisure walks around lake side or one can join in for other activities, like boating, Zip Flyer or Para-Gliding and walk to Peace Stupa.

Day 11Drive or fly to Kathmandu -06 hrs ride or 30 mins by flights.

On leaving hotel after breakfast at Pokhara where exciting drive takes you back in Kathmandu where ride follows on same interesting road to Kathmandu and then back at your hotels, with afternoon free to enjoy personal and individual activities and shopping.

Day 12Final departure for homeward bound or to respective countries.
