For a day or more, the closest hill station from Bhaktapur and Kathmandu cities:

Nagarkot at the height of 2,120 meter high, the closest hill for super sunrise / sunset views over array of Himalayan peaks, a drive of less than two hours located straight north-east of Bhaktapur city. Famous and popular mountain holiday destination in great comfort of nice deluxe-luxury hotels, lodge and resorts.

A beautiful spot facing stunning sunrise views over chain of peaks that includes from Ganesh-Langtang-Jugal Himal with Gaurishankar extends towards Everest region in the Far East horizon. Nagarkot hill located within green forest of pines, firs, oaks and rhododendron trees within peaceful surroundings with snow capped mountain backdrop.

At Nagarkot Hill where one can stay for overnight to catch early sunrise views over range of mountains, where one can extend for few more days as Nagarkot hill offers various short hike and walks where you can observe rural villages and farm life.

DHULIKHEL AND NAMOBUDDHA:  

Another scenic hill of Dhulikhel east of Kathmandu valley rim on the old road of Kathmandu / Lhasa highway, a medvial old town of more than 500 years old populated by Newar people.

Dhulikhel town stand at 1,540 m high which is about an hour or more drive from Kathmandu, the hill town of Dhulikhel offers exciting views of Central and Eastern Himalaya range of mountains with fabulous sunrise / sunset views. Dhulikhel offers nice pleasant and comfortable stay for travelers where one can spend overnights in various standard lodges and resorts of Tourist class overlooking views of mountains.

NAMOBUDDHA:

Namobuddha area a holy spot for Buddhist followers located a mere distance south of Dhulikhel town within a serene and tranquil environment in the midst of alpine forest covered with rhododendron, pines, oaks and fir tree lines. Set in peaceful surroundings with views of snow capped peaks towards north, Namobuddha renowned and supreme sacred sites with holy Three Stupas/Chorten stands known as Tagmo Lüjin.

The belief is that this was the place where future Buddha sacrificed his own flesh to a hungry tigress, truly a sacred place where perfect and supreme Buddha-at that time still on the path of learning-offered his own body without regret to a tigress suffering from great hunger, rest of the history of this supreme and distinguished sacred site, whose location is unmistaken based on the clear identification given in the Sutra Requested by the Tigress and so forth. Here enjoy pleasant visit around shrines and holy sites with tour of monasteries, then head back to Dhulikhel or drive straight to Kathmandu.
