Itinerary

On arrival at Nepal international airport in Kathmandu, where Professional Trekking Guide staff receives with warm welcome and then transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu.

On checking your rooms getting refreshed then join in at hotel foyer / lobby meeting with other members of the trek, where our guide will brief you with information regarding Annapurna Base Camp and Sanctuary Trekking.

Evening group welcome dinner in a nice Nepalese environment restaurant with native folk culture programs along with the dinner.

A free day in Kathmandu you can enjoy at leisure as well preparation for the trek, on this day interested people can join in our exciting guided sightseeing tour for half or full day tour at places of great interest around World Heritage Sites.

Morning either in charted bus, or in car as well in tourist coach (depending upon the size of a group), where overland journey takes you on main busy Nepal highway to reach country Mid-West at beautiful Pokhara.

Pokhara an amazing city located on the laps of towering Annapurna Mountain range with famous Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’ where reflection of the peaks touches its serene Phewa Lake.

At Pokhara transfer to your respective hotels by the lake side with time wander on the street around the lake lined with shops and stores with many good hotels and restaurants.

Adventure begins with short exciting drive that takes beyond Pokhara valley to reach at Nayapul or Bhirethati a nice and lovely village, a low warm area where our walks starts following an easy gradual path past farm villages for few hour.

Then climb past farm villages to reach at Ghandruk village after walking uphill for an hour to reach this large Gurung village in Ghandruk for overnight night stop.

Ghandruk village offers views of Annapurna South and top of Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’.

Here with time to explore around and witness hill people culture and heritage farm life visiting interesting small Gurung museum with views of Annapurna peaks towards north direction.

From Ghandruk walk up on top after leaving the village then on gradual path for short while and then soon leads to a climb to Kimrong Danda (ridge) a place with Tea-House and Lodge, after a short rest downhill into cool forest trail to reach at the valley floor of Kimrong River and its nice farm village.

After possible lunch stop where climb leads for an hour or more to reach a hill top, and then on gradual winding path to reach at Chomrong village for overnight stop in this nice large village of Gurung people similar to Ghandruk, Chomrong the last permanent settlement on route Annapurna Base Camp and Sanctuary.

After Chomrong on downhill to cross a bridge over Chomrong river with uphill to Sinuwa danda (ridge) with couple of Tea-House and shops, where walk leads into deep forested areas on winding ups and then descend into dense woodland with bamboo grooves to a place called also as Bamboo.

A small settlement to cater the needs of the trekkers with many good lodges located in a river gorge surrounded by forest of rhododendron-pines and bamboo.

From the Bamboo place walk is gradual into woods with easy ups to reach at Dovan for overnight stops in a small remote and isolated place with few lodges for travelers.

Slowly our adventure leads closer to our aim and highlight as walk leads into winding ups into forest past a lonely place called Himalaya Hotel, located next to large overhanging cave Hinko which is directly beneath Annapurna South and Huin-Chuli peaks.

From Himalaya Hotel downhill near Modi River then with short climb to reach at Deurali where tall tree lines stops for short alpine bushes, walk carries on uphill following Modi river right up to our overnight stop at Machhapuchare base camp located at the bottom of majestic North Face of Machhapuchare Himal ‘Fish Tail’.

An easy and short day morning walk to Annapurna base camp, as from Machhapuchare where Annapurna Sanctuary starts right up to base camp, walk leads to short ups to reach a level ground on a huge field or a plateau within Sanctuary enclosed by array of peak and soon walk leads to a welcome sign-post of Annapurna Base Camp.

Reaching our final destination and highest spot at above 4,130 m high situated beneath towering Mt. Annapurna and range of other peaks of Vara-Shikar, Gangapurna with Annapurna South.

Annapurna Base Camp, one and only base camp in whole Himalaya region with facility of nice and cozy lodge including nice food menu and rooms facing amazing views of Annapurna peaks.

Enjoying lovely and pleasant scenic times at Annapurna base camp a long walk of near six hours leads you downhill with short ups to reach at Bamboo and back into tall tree lines and lush vegetation, after being on arctic zone climate at Annapurna base camp and sanctuary.

Return journey head back to Chomrong with some ups and down, after Chomrong our route diverts to fresh new trail to a nice hill village at Jhinu located on a high ridge with grand scenery of rolling hills and mountains.

Jhinu offers refreshing natural hot-spring for interested people which is a mere distance downhill of half hour to the hot spring with two nice warm pools close to raging Modi-River.

Morning our last walk of the adventure morning starts on downhill path to reach nearby Modi River to end our final walk, where few hour drive reach you at Pokhara after a most enjoyable and scenic time on high hills around Annapurna Base Camp and Sanctuary trekking.

On leaving the hotel after breakfast at Pokhara where exciting drive takes you back in Kathmandu where ride follows on same interesting road to Kathmandu and then back at your hotels, with afternoon free to enjoy personal and individual activities and shopping.

Best Seasons for Annapurna Base Camp and Sanctuary Trekking:

March to May and September to mid December months of the year, March to May when most of day is clear for views and pleasant walks with moderate temperatures, longer sunlight hours when wild flowers are in bloom, especially rhododendron of various species from trees to bush of different colors (national flower of Nepal the rhododendron).

March to May where late afternoon can get cloudy with chances of rain and snow in higher altitude sometimes.

September to mid December around autumn / fall and pre winter one of the best times with clear blue sky and sunny days (for short while from morning to mid day) can be cold and freezing during morning and night times above 1,800 m high.

Sunlight is short during autumn and winter seasons but most of the morning till late afternoon are clear for views and pleasant walks with chances of snow around higher areas above 1,800 m.

People and Culture:

Low warm farm areas of Nepal Mid West are of mixed ethnic tribes of people with mostly Gurung, Magar with some Tamang including Hindu Brahmin, Chettries and Dalits with various cultures and custom with same farm traditional life of both Hindu and Buddhism religion.

Higher mid hill around Annapurna region where villages populated by Gurung ethnic tribe of Annapurna and Western part of Nepal, follows Buddhism religion along with their ancestral heritage rites, worshipping nature and mountain spirits.
