Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m/4,592ft) - Transfer to Hotel and Trip Preparation

Upon arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, you will go through the necessary airport procedures. A representative from Third Rock Adventures will be there to greet you and assist you in reaching your designated hotel.

After settling in at the hotel, you can take a brief break. Later, there will be a short meet-up for a comprehensive trip briefing session. Your tour guide will provide you with an overview of the 6-day Kathmandu and Chitwan tour itinerary.

Following the meeting, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the nearby areas. This is a chance to immerse yourself in the language, culture, and way of life of the Nepalese people.

You’ll spend the night in Kathmandu.

Day 2Drive to Chitwan - 5 to 6 hours (150km) drive

In the early morning, you’ll embark on your overland journey from Kathmandu to Chitwan National Park. This picturesque drive will lead you through the countryside, offering views of the Trishuli river, forest-clad hills, agricultural villages, and lush rice fields. Taking in the beauty of this short but scenic trip, you’ll arrive in Chitwan.

Upon arrival at the hotel, you can freshen up and take a brief tour along the picturesque riverside of the enchanting Rapti river. Witness the enchanting sunset amidst the dense jungles of Chitwan. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the Tharu communities located near Chitwan National Park. Immerse yourself in the rich Tharu culture, savor delectable cuisine, and experience the renowned Tharu stick dance.

Day 3Canoeing Ride, Visit Elephant Breeding Center, and Jeep Safari at Chitwan National Park

Today promises to be an exciting day packed with thrilling activities in the park:

Begin with a captivating canoeing ride, a highlight of your visit to Chitwan National Park. Launching from the river’s edge, you’ll get an up-close encounter with the Gharial and Mugger crocodiles, as well as other fascinating creatures like the rhinoceros.

As you paddle along, keep an eye out for a diverse array of birdlife, including the majestic giant hornbill and graceful eagles.

Next on the agenda is a visit to the Elephant Breeding Center, providing valuable insights into the habits and nature of these magnificent creatures.

The adventure continues with a Jeep Safari, where you’ll delve into the heart of the dense Sauraha jungle. Perched high on the back of trained elephants, you’ll navigate through tranquil forests, offering you an intimate view of various bird species and wild creatures.

You’ll conclude the day with an overnight stay in Chitwan, surely filled with unforgettable memories.

Day 4Jeep Safari or Jungle Walk at Chitwan National Park

Today, you’ll have the entire day to delve into the wonders of Chitwan National Park. You have two equally captivating options: either embark on a Jeep Safari or opt for a Jungle Walk within the park. Both choices promise a rewarding experience. Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you’ll explore the park’s diverse biodiversity either by vehicle or on foot, learning about its history, flora, and fauna.

Expect to encounter rare wildlife species such as the one-horned rhinoceros, spotted deer, vibrant peacocks, and a diverse array of birdlife. With a touch of luck, you might even catch sight of the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger, a leopard, or even a sloth bear. After concluding the safari activities, you’ll return to the hotel. Later, you’ll also have the opportunity to visit a Tharu village.

You’ll spend the night in Chitwan.

Day 5Bird Watching and drive back to Kathmandu - (1,400m/4,593ft) 5 to 6 hours (150km) drive

In the early morning, you’ll embark on a tranquil nature walk along the serene Rapti river. This presents a wonderful opportunity to observe various exotic and migratory birds, including the magnificent Giant Hornbill, graceful Little Egret, elusive Lesser Florican, charming Hoopoe, distinctive Darter, and agile Flycatcher, among others. This brief walk promises to be a delight for both nature enthusiasts and bird lovers.

Following the walk, you’ll enjoy breakfast and then commence your journey back to Kathmandu. Upon arriving in Kathmandu, you can freshen up and take a leisurely stroll through the nearby streets of Thamel. If you’re inclined, you might also engage in some souvenir shopping for your loved ones.

You’ll spend the night in Kathmandu.

Day 6Final Departure

After completing your final preparations, you’ll make your way to the Kathmandu International Airport accompanied by a representative from Third Rock Adventures. It’s advisable to arrive at the airport three hours prior to your scheduled departure flight.
