Begin your day at 5 am by waking up and enjoying a cup of tea or coffee in the comfort of your hotel. Following this, embark on a short 15-minute drive from your Thamel-based hotel to the Kathmandu domestic airport, conveniently located adjacent to the Tribhuvan International Airport (Domestic Terminal).
Fly east along the Himalayan mountain range from the airport in Kathmandu to Hilary Tenzing Airport in Lukla, which is in the Everest region.
Some of the mountains you will view en route to and around Everest are- Gauri Shanker (7,134m), Langtang Lirung (7,234m), Ganesh (7,429m), Shisa Pangma (8,013m), Gyachangkang (7,952 m), Pumori (7,161m), Nuptse (7,855m), Lhotse (8,516m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), Chamlang (7,319m), and Makalu (8,463 m).7:15–7:30 am Airport refueling in Lukla.
At Lukla, your chopper will pause to refuel. There will be a brief break of 15 minutes.
After arriving in Lukla, a four-hour trek will lead you to the first overnight stop at Phakding. If the weather is favorable, you should arrive in Phakding by early afternoon, providing ample time to unwind and mentally prepare for the next part of the journey. Today’s trek will take you through forests and across suspension bridges over lively rivers, offering a thrilling preview of what lies ahead.
Following breakfast, traverse challenging terrain towards Gorakshep, a quaint settlement where we’ll have our initial meal and spend the night. It will take approximately 3 to 4 hours to reach Everest Base Camp from here. In the distance, one can observe climbers’ camps as they ready themselves for their ascent of Everest. Additionally, you’ll be greeted by the grand glacier and the renowned mountain itself.
From Lukla to Kalapattar, you can take a helicopter ride that includes a flight over Everest Base Camp. This journey include flying into Lukla (by fixed-wing aircraft or helicopter), followed by a helicopter flight over Everest Base Camp and the adjacent areas, before landing on Kalapattar. As previously said, Kalapattar provides the greatest views of Mount Everest. This flight also includes breakfast at the Everest View Hotel, which enhances the experience and provides you extra time to enjoy the breathtaking mountain views.
If you don’t want to trek but still want to feel the ambiance of the Khumbu, you can fly into Lukla and take the helicopter flight. This excursion can also be added to your trek.
